Volunteers from Southwest Washington joined in the continued search Saturday for the body of Yashanee Vaughn, a 14-year-old Portland girl police believe was murdered. An acquaintance, 16-year-old Parrish Bennette Jr., was indicted Friday on charges of murder with a firearm and manslaughter with a firearm.

On Saturday, Multnomah County search and rescue teams, along with dozens of volunteers from Oregon and Washington, mounted a search effort in the Rocky Butte area of Portland.

Crews also searched the area last weekend, but cold and wet weather prevented them from approaching caves or steep cliffs.

They planned to conduct a more extensive search this weekend, with a goal of ending the search today, Portland Police Sgt. Pete Simpson told KGW-TV.
