JOHANNESBURG (AP) — The commissioner of the Sunshine Tour says South Africa will host a World Golf Championship event in 2012 offering prize money of $10 million, making it the richest tournament in world golf.

Gareth Tindall says Tuesday the five-year deal was sealed after meetings with the U.S. PGA Tour and the International Federation of PGA Tours in Augusta, Ga., last week.

The Tournament of Hope will be only the second WGC event outside the United States after the HSBC Champions in China.

A date and venue hasn’t been decided, but Tindall says organizers will look at the first weekend of December, clashing with Tiger Woods’ Chevron Challenge and South Africa’s own Nedbank Challenge at Sun City.

On Woods’ event, Tindall says, “they will have to move it.”
