Vancouver police used a tracking dog late Monday night to capture a man who allegedly attempted to rob a smoke shop with a BB gun.

The clerk at the shop, 6721 N.E. Fourth Plain Blvd., wrestled with the suspect, who then ran, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman with the Vancouver Police Department. The incident was reported at 10:31 p.m.

Travis A. Miller, 24, was found nearby by the K-9 team and arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree robbery and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.

Miller was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center to be treated for injuries before he was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Tuesday night, Miller was being held in the jail on $25,000 bail on suspicion of first-degree robbery. He’s to appear in court on April 22, a jail officer said.

The clerk suffered a scratch on his face but did not need to be transported, Kapp said.
