Battle Ground — Battle Ground High School students got a graphic portrayal of what can happen while driving under the influence during a mock DUI fatal accident on March 30.

Emergency responders from Clark County Fire & Rescue, North Country EMS, an ambulance service, the Battle Ground Police Department, the medical examiner’s office and Evergreen Memorial Gardens funeral home, two parents and around ten students put on a convincing show. The scene: A two-vehicle wreck on state Highway 503 at Northeast 199th Street.

The rapt attention of the students and the moist eyes of many adults at the District Stadium were testimony to the realistic presentation. The production was scheduled before spring break and spring prom to send an important message. This was one of several similar presentations at high schools in the Portland-Vancouver area organized by SKID: Stop Kids’ Intoxicated Driving.
