NEW YORK (AP) — San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture, New York Islanders right wing Michael Grabner and Carolina Hurricanes center Jeff Skinner are the finalists for the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL’s rookie of the year.

Couture, Grabner and Skinner received the most votes from members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association in results announced Tuesday. The winner will be revealed during the NHL awards ceremony on June 22 in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old Couture scored 32 goals and had 56 points. Grabner, claimed off waivers by the Islanders from Florida on Oct. 5, had a team-best 34 goals. The 18-year-old Skinner led rookies with 63 points despite being the NHL’s youngest player.

Finalists for the other major awards will be announced over the next two weeks.
