GLASGOW, Scotland (AP) — Scotland’s leader says the discovery of mail bombs that were sent to Celtic manager Neil Lennon should spur Scottish soccer into eradicating sectarian violence.

A package addressed to Lennon was intercepted on March 26 at a sorting office near Glasgow.

Another package destined for Celtic-supporting Scottish lawmaker Trish Godman was intercepted two days later. A third package destined for Paul McBride, a lawyer who has represented Lennon, was intercepted earlier this week.

First Minister Alex Salmond says he hopes Scotland will “unite to condemn those who abuse football with their pathetic and dangerous prejudices.”

Most Celtic fans come from the Catholic community, while Glasgow rival Rangers is supported largely by Protestants.
