This morning, Thursday April 21, 2011, at approximately 6:36 a.m., Portland Police responded to Northeast 122nd Avenue and Marine Drive on the report of a person riding a bike that had been struck by a vehicle.

(Initial release stated that the person struck was a pedestrian not a bicycle rider)

Officers arrived and found an adult female down in the street. Medical personnel responded and transported her to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained onscene and cooperated with investigators.

Traffic investigators learned that the vehicle driven by 21-year-old Robert Babb was heading westbound on Northeast Marine Drive and the bicycle rider was heading eastbound when the vehicle turned left onto 122nd and struck the bicycle rider.

Mr. Babb was issued citations for making a Dangerous Left Turn and Driving Uninsured.
