LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — The Court of Arbitration for Sport has selected a three-man panel to hear Alberto Contador’s doping case and says it expects a verdict before the Tour de France in July.
CAS has chosen Israeli lawyer Efraim Barak to chair the panel, which includes Quentin Byrne-Sutton of Switzerland and Germany’s Ulrich Haas.
Contador’s legal team selected Haas, and the International Cycling Union and World Anti-Doping Agency chose Byrne-Sutton.
The UCI and WADA have appealed the Spanish cycling federation’s acquittal of Tour winner Contador on doping charges.
A Spanish tribunal accepted Contador’s defense that he inadvertently consumed clenbuterol in contaminated beef.
