Letter: Wealth grows only for the wealthiest

The continuing theme of our Republican leaders is to cut taxes to the wealthiest of our citizens, with the belief being that they will then use the money that they have saved on income taxes to create jobs. Looking at our situation today, it is evident that the Bush tax cuts to the wealthiest haven’t created any jobs, so maybe they didn’t go far enough.

Using the Republicans’ logic, maybe the tax rate for the wealthiest people in this country should be zero. Maybe that would create enough jobs to drastically lower our nation’s unemployment rate. Going even further, maybe the extremely wealthy should be given a tax rebate every year based on a percentage of their wealth. The wealthier they are, the bigger their rebate. That should wipe out unemployment altogether.
