WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) — The Boston Celtics are still waiting for Shaquille O’Neal to return from the right calf injury that has limited him to just 5 minutes, 29 seconds since Feb. 1.

O’Neal was planning to do a partial workout on Friday as the Celtics prepared for the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Heat. Game 1 is Sunday in Miami.

Celtics coach Doc Rivers said if O’Neal isn’t back for the series opener, he hopes to have him back for Game 2.

O’Neal has reported improvement in the injury over the past few days. He ran through some plays and shot baskets on Thursday, and was expected to do the same on Friday.
