AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Pistons introduced new coach Lawrence Frank at a news conference constrained by his inability to mention current players because of the lockout.
That left Frank spending a great deal of time talking about Boston coach Doc Rivers and Philadelphia president Rod Thorn instead of Ben Gordon or Richard Hamilton.
Frank and Pistons president Joe Dumars agree that the new coach’s first job is to get the franchise back on track after three poor seasons under first-time coaches Michael Curry and John Kuester. Frank coached the Nets from 2003-09, taking them to the playoffs four times.
