LONG POND, Pa. — (AP) — Travis Pastrana will delay his debut in NASCAR’s second-tier Nationwide Series because of injuries he suffered last week in the X Games.

The 11-time X Games gold medalist was scheduled to make his debut last weekend in Indianapolis. But he broke his right ankle and foot in the Best Trick competition in Los Angeles.

Pastrana had surgery on Wednesday, and his doctor says the driver must be immobilized in traction for at least one month. Pastrana will be unable to put weight on his right leg for a month.

This also puts his participation in the IndyCar Series’ $5 million bounty in doubt. Pastrana had expressed interest in racing for the money in the season-finale at Las Vegas.
