LYNNWOOD, Wash. (AP) — A Washington State Patrol trooper was injured when his parked car was hit by another car on the shoulder of Interstate 5 Monday night in Lynnwood.

Trooper Keith Leary told KIRO 7 (http://bit.ly/pNv1WA ) the trooper is being treated at a Seattle hospital for bumps and bruises and should be released Tuesday.

The crash mangled the left side of the patrol car. Rescue crews had to extricate the trooper. He’s a K9 officer, and his dog — named Buster — was not injured.

Four people in the other car were not hurt. The driver was arrested. The 19-year-old woman could be charged with vehicular assault.
