PARK CITY, Utah (AP) — The BMC Racing Team continues to build a super team, signing reigning world road champion Thor Hushovd for the next three seasons.

BMC President Jim Ochowicz announced the signing Tuesday.

Hushovd won two stages of the 2011 Tour de France and wore the yellow jersey for Garmin-Cervelo for seven days. His contract with BMC runs from 2012-2014.

The 33-year-old Norwegian becomes the third straight world road champion to become part of the American team’s roster the past two seasons.

Two weeks ago, BMC extended the contract for 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans, the 2009 world road champion.

Last year, it signed 2008 world road champ Alessandro Ballan.

Hushovd says his remaining goal is to win Paris-Roubaix, cycling’s most prestigious one-day race, and believes BMC will help.
