ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals reliever Lance Lynn pulled a left side muscle on a full-count walk with two outs in the eighth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers and was lifted from the game.

Lynn, a rookie right-hander, bent over in pain after walking pinch hitter George Kotaras on Tuesday night. Lynn struck out three and hadn’t allowed a hit in 1 2-3 innings before the walk. He eventually walked off the field.

Octavio Dotel replaced Lynn in a double switch with Daniel Descalso replacing Skip Schumaker at second base.
