Symposium to address running a nonprofit

The Secretary of State’s Corporations and Charities Division office will hold an all-day symposium in Vancouver on Sept. 16 to assist people who help run charities and nonprofit corporations.

The event will focus on nonprofit board governance, including liabilities and indemnification, employment issues, duties and bylaws, and liability insurance.

A presentation on special-occasion licensing will be offered by the Washington State Gambling Commission and the Liquor Control Board during the working lunch.

The Charities and Nonprofit Education Symposium will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the new Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St.
