CINCINNATI (AP) — The San Diego Padres have activated catcher Nick Hundley from the 15-day disabled list.
Hundley was in the starting lineup for Friday night’s game at Cincinnati. He had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow on July 8.
Hundley hit .174 (4 for 23) with 10 strikeouts in seven games during a rehabilitation assignment with Double-A San Antonio. He hit .222 with three home runs and 15 RBIs in 45 games for the Padres before going on the DL.
Catcher Luis Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Tucson to make room on the roster for Hundley. Martinez has hit .263 in 13 games over two stints this season with San Diego.
Right-hander pitcher Ernesto Frieri has started a rehab assignment with Tucson.
