LONDON (AP) — Team Sky says Bradley Wiggins will compete in the Spanish Vuelta, six weeks after he crashed out of the Tour de France with a broken collarbone.

The 31-year-old Briton will lead the Sky team in the race, which starts on Saturday in Benidorm. It will be the first time he has competed in the Spanish tour, one of the world’s top three stage races.

Wiggins had been an outside contender for victory in the Tour, but was forced to pull out following a crash in the seventh stage.

Sky competed in the Vuelta for the first time last year, but withdrew after the death of the squad’s masseur from a bacterial infection.

This year’s Vuelta covers 2,050 miles and finishes in Madrid on Sept. 11.
