SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber has tapped a Democratic legislator from Portland to be his education advisor.
Kitzhaber’s office announced Tuesday that Rep. Ben Cannon would begin the job next month. He’s resigning his seat in the Legislature.
Cannon teaches humanities at Arbor School of Arts and Sciences in Portland. He replaces Nancy Golden, who returned to her position as superintendent at Springfield Public Schools — a job she held concurrently with her role in Kitzhaber’s office.
