Rafter presumed drowned in Deschutes River

THE DALLES, Ore. (AP) — The Wasco sheriff's office says a rafter who was lost in the upper Deschutes River is presumed to have drowned.

KGW reports five people were thrown into the water when the raft overturned Friday in the White Horse Rapids near North Junction. Four made it to shore.

A 29-year-old man was last seen floating down the river without a life jacket. Searchers have found no sign of the man.
