23-year sentence for man in Olympia shooting

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — A man who shot and paralyzed a robbery victim in Olympia was sentenced Thursday to 23 years in prison.

The 24-year-old Tacoma man, Phil Phillips Jr., pleaded guilty to assault and robbery charges for the 2008 shooting in a bank parking lot.

The Olympian reports (http://bit.ly/rucUhY) the family of the 29-year-old victim, Chad Barnett, says he is struggling with the knowledge he may never walk again.
