DETROIT (AP) — The Cleveland Indians are juggling their roster just before a key three-game series with the AL Central Division-leading Detroit Tigers.

The Indians placed infielder Jason Kipnis on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right hamstring, and optioned outfielder Ezequiel Carrera to Triple-A Columbus. Cleveland also recalled outfielder Shelley Duncan and infielder Luis Valbuena from Columbus.

Duncan and Valbuena have spent time with the Indians earlier this season. Duncan is hitting .246 in 43 games, and Valbuena posted a .136 average in eight games.
