SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — Mason County commissioner Jerry Lingle was found dead in his Shelton home Friday.
Mason County Coroner Wes Stockwell told The Kitsap Sun (http://bit.ly/oCHpdT ) that sheriff’s deputies found no signs of foul play. The commissioner’s son found him dead in his home late Friday. An autopsy is set for Monday.
The 57-year-old ran as an independent and defeated Democrat Brenda Hirschi in last November’s election. He took office in January. He also was a 24-year veteran police officer in Shelton.
Fellow Commissioner Tim Sheldon called Lingle caring and popular, and said he was enthusiastic about his job.
