KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) — The Afghan government says a roadside bomb has killed two civilians in the country’s south.

Helmand provincial government spokesman Daoud Ahmadi says the civilians were driving on a road in Gereshk district early Monday when the blast hit their car. Ahmadi says four others in the vehicle were wounded.

Insurgents routinely plant bombs on roads throughout the south in an effort to hit government or NATO vehicles, but civilians often end up the victims of the blasts.
