CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have put designated hitter Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right foot.

General manager Chris Antonetti announced the move Monday before the Indians opened a series against Seattle. Right-hander Josh Judy was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Hafner’s roster spot and provide some help to Cleveland’s overworked bullpen.

Hafner left Sunday’s game in Detroit in the sixth inning. He has been playing with pain in the foot since injuring it on a slide into home plate in a game in April. He recently fouled a ball off the same foot, re-aggravating the problem.

Hafner was sidelined for a month until mid-June with a strained right oblique. In 82 games, he is hitting .281 with 11 homers and 49 RBIs.
