SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The family of the San Francisco Giants fan severely beaten outside Dodger Stadium says he has suffered a slight setback in his recovery.

Bryan Stow’s family members posted on their website that the setback occurred when a spinal fluid test came back positive for urinary tract and staph infections. He’s been given antibiotics and an ice vest to cool him from a high fever.

Doctors at San Francisco General Hospital have described Stow’s recovery as filled with ups and downs since the March attack. He’s currently in serious condition.

In their posting, Stow’s family also addressed the violence during Saturday’s football game between the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders. They say they had hoped Stow’s story would teach people that violence at sporting events is “unnecessary and wrong.”
