CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore says his first live batting practice in six weeks went well, a positive step in his latest comeback.

Sizemore hit balls for 15 minutes in the outdoor cage at Progressive Field before the Indians hosted Seattle on Wednesday. With manager Manny Acta watching, Sizemore had his first outdoor session since going on the disabled list July 18 with a bruised knee and following sports hernia surgery.

When Sizemore returned from microfracture knee surgery, he was his hustling self before getting hurt again.

Sizemore says it “went great; it’s getting there.” On Tuesday, Sizemore reported no problems after doing agility drills on the field.

The three-time All-Star, who once played in 382 straight games, believes he will be playing in minor league games within a week. The Indians could use him for the playoff push, but intend to be cautious.
