ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera will go on the paternity leave list and miss Thursday’s game against Tampa Bay.

Tigers manager Jim Leyland said before Wednesday night’s game with the Rays that Cabrera’s wife would have labor induced.

Cabrera is expected to rejoin the team Friday night for the opener of a three-game series at Minnesota.

Detroit will add a player for Thursday’s game to replace Cabrera on the roster.
