Firefighters responded to a water flow alarm midday Thursday to find a downtown Vancouver building’s basement flooded with more than 5,000 gallons of water.
“It’s a large amount of water,” Vancouver Fire Capt. Kevin Murray said Thursday. “It’s actually a significant issue.”
After arriving at the building, which is located at 104 W. Evergreen Blvd., officials determined a fire tripped the building’s sprinklers. It’s unclear how long the sprinklers were running, but they obviously did their job putting the fire out, Murray said.
The building sustained significant water damage, Murray said.
County property records indicate the building is owned by Michael C. Scheetz.
