No. 5 seed Lisicki tops Texas Open semi’s field

GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) — Fifth-seeded Sabine Lisicki continued her roll through the Texas Open, going into the semifinals as the top seed remaining and having yet to lose a set.

Lisicki, ranked 23rd in the world and coming off a semifinal at Wimbledon, defeated Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday in a quarterfinal. She will next face eighth-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu, who is ranked No. 48.

Begu advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Anastasija Sevastova.

The other semifinal will feature Aravane Rezai against Angelique Kerber.

Rezai beat Elena Baltacha 6-2, 6-2, and Kerber beat Johanna Larsson 6-0, 6-1.
