BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Morris Claiborne says he’s been happy to keep quiet and play in the shadows of more flamboyant LSU cornerbacks.

A season ago, Patrick Peterson made all the headlines while Claiborne snagged a team-high five interceptions.

This season, Tyrann Matheiu, the “honey badger,” has been the face of LSU’s big-play defense.

Claiborne, meanwhile, has no catchy nickname but leads the team in interceptions again. He has matched last season’s total of five with the SEC title game against Georgia on Saturday and a bowl game — likely the BCS title game — still to go.

Claiborne says he came to LSU expecting to play receiver, but was happy to change positions when coaches asked. Now teammates say he’ll be remembered as one of the best cornerbacks LSU ever had.
