Georgia State routs Florida International 73-47

ATLANTA (AP) — Rashaad Richardson scored 14 points and Eric Buckner recorded eight of Georgia State’s school-record 14 blocked shots en route to a 73-47 rout of Florida International on Thursday night.

Georgia State (5-3) has won five straight games for its longest winning streak since 2003-04.

Georgia State led 46-38 before reeling off 12 straight points over a span of 4:34 to lead 58-38 with 5:51 left. Georgia State’s largest lead was 30 at 73-43.

Buckner came within one of the school record of nine blocked shots, and Georgia State broke the record of 12 rejections set Jan. 29, 2000, vs. Troy.

FIU (2-4) shot only 24.1 percent from the field (14 of 58), including 18.8 percent in the second half (6 of 32), while Georgia State shot 43.4 percent (23 of 53). Georgia State also hit 21 of 32 free throws.

DeJuan Wright led FIU with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
