High-flying Steelers WR Mike Wallace slowing down

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace joked during training camp he’d rack up a record 2,000 yards receiving this season.

For the first month, it looked like he may have a shot. Wallace started the season with three consecutive games with at least 100 yards, cementing his status as one of the league’s top deep threats.

Things have slowed down the last two months even as the Steelers have won six of seven games heading into Sunday’s showdown with surprising Cincinnati.

Wallace had a season-low 17 yards on two receptions in a 13-9 victory over Kansas City last weekend, including two drops. He called the drops no big deal and pointed to increased double teams and the emergence of Antonio Brown as one of the reasons his production has decreased.
