VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) -- Vancouver, Wash., police say an officer pursuing a bank robber shot and wounded a man.
Spokeswoman Kim Kapp says police responding Thursday afternoon to an armed robbery call at a Wells Fargo bank branch got a detailed description of the robber from witnesses and began to search for him. Officers located a man matching the description behind a strip mall about a block from the bank.
Kapp says "during that contact with the suspect," an officer fired at least one shot, hitting the man once in the hip. The wounded man was taken to a hospital. No information on his condition was provided.
The officer has been placed on paid leave while the shooting is investigated.
The spokeswoman says the investigation continues.
