Seattle police changing policies, standards

SEATTLE (AP) -- Under scrutiny by the Justice Department, the Seattle Police Department is changing its policies and standards.

Mayor Mike McGinn sent a letter to the federal agency Tuesday announcing a revamp and saying Police Chief John Diaz also will create a force review board.

The Justice Department started a civil rights investigation of Seattle police in March, looking into allegations of excessive use of force, especially against minorities.
