UNC Wilmington defeats Liberty 77-68

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Keith Rendleman scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead UNC Wilmington over Liberty 77-68 on Tuesday night.

Adam Smith added 18 points, making all four of the Seahawks’ 3-point field goals. UNC Wilmington was just 4 of 25 from long range, but still managed to shoot 46.3 percent from the field (31 of 67). The Seahawks made 64.2 percent of their shots from inside the arc (27 of 42).

UNC Wilmington (2-5) led 26-25 with 4:44 left in the first half, and scored six straight to go up by seven, 32-35, with 2:47 left in the half. The Seahawks, who outscored Liberty 41-37 in the second half, increased their lead to as many as 15, 71-56, with 2:50 to play.

Jesse Sanders led the Flames (2-8) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Tavares Speaks added 16 points and David Minaya 11 for Liberty, which lost its seventh straight.
