EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene officials say the last of the Occupy Eugene protest campers have agreed to leave a park.

The city says security lighting was removed from Washington-Jefferson Park on Tuesday and a hazardous materials contractor removed potential hazards such as hypodermic needles.

City officials say Occupy Eugene protesters were given permission to continue cleaning up the site during daylight hours on Wednesday.

The City Council voted last week to direct city officials to break up the camp after a night of fighting that left one man hospitalized. He later died.

Also on Tuesday, three protesters who briefly occupied a Eugene city councilor’s front yard last weekend to protest his vote on the issue were released from jail. They pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor criminal trespass charges in the incident at Councilor George Poling’s home.
