Vancouver police Wednesday night assisted Portland police in what was described as a possible gang-related shooting in Northeast Portland.
The incident happened about 7 p.m. at Northeast 111th and Sandy Boulevard, a Portland Police Bureau press release said. The bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team is investigating.
Vancouver police went to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on the report of a gunshot victim in the emergency room. Officers spoke to a 22-year-old man who confirmed the shooting, according to the press release. He suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury, the release said.
Then, Vancouver police called Portland police, who said the victim is known to be a gang associate.
Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to contact the Portland Police Bureau.
Portland police said this was the city’s 103rd gang-violence incident of 2011.
