OBERSTDORF, Germany (AP) — Gregor Schlierenzauer mastered difficult conditions to lead an Austrian sweep of the top three places at the start of the Four Hills Tour ski jumping competition on Friday.
Andreas Kofler led after the first jump but finished second. Defending tour champion Thomas Morgenstern was third.
The first jump was abandoned after 34 competitors because of heavy snowfall and strong winds and was later restarted.
The Four Hills Tour, part of the World Cup circuit, continues with the traditional New Year’s Day competition Sunday in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.
