Miami (Ohio) pulls away from Ball State 89-75

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Julian Mavunga scored 27 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as Miami (Ohio) came from behind to beat Ball State 89-75 on Tuesday night.

The RedHawks (9-12, 4-3 Mid-American Conference) led 72-70 with 6:49 remaining before a 15-2 run stretched their lead to 87-52 with 1:29 left.

The Cardinals (13-8, 5-3) went 1 for 10 from the floor during the run as their 14-point first-half lead disappeared.

Josh Sewell scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half for Miami, which shot 54.2 percent from the floor (32 of 59), including 50 percent from 3-point range (16 of 32).

Nick Winbush added 16 points and Allen Roberts 13 for the RedHawks.

Ball State led 46-39 at halftime after making 7 of 10 from beyond the arc in the opening half. However, the Cardinals made just 1 of 12 3-pointers after the break.

Jauwan Scaife scored 22 for Ball State, which has lost four straight.
