Northwestern State beats Central Arkansas 85-78

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — Will Pratt scored 23 points and Devon Baker added 20 as Northwestern State defeated Central Arkansas 85-78 Wednesday night.

Louis Ellis hit a 3-pointer with 10:38 to play, helping Northwestern State (13-10, 5-3 Southland Conference) equal its biggest lead of the night at 64-49. The Bears (5-16, 1-7) still trailed 80-69 with 1:20 left when Mike Pouncy hit two 3-pointers to lead them on a 9-3 run that pulled them to 83-78 with 29 seconds left.

But Baker, who made 8 of 12 free throws while his teammates combined for 12 of 23, made two from the line with 14 seconds left. Those were the game’s final points.

William Mosley grabbed 12 rebounds for Northwestern State, which outrebounded Central Arkansas 39-31. Mosley, a 6-foot-7 junior, also blocked seven shots.

Pouncy and Dewan Clayborn each scored 15 to lead Central Arkansas, which lost its eighth game in the last nine.
