PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers has hired Pittsburgh assistant Brian Angelichio as its tight ends coach.

Coach Greg Schiano announced the hiring Thursday, the third time he has hired a former Panthers’ coach since Dave Wannstadt resigned from Pitt.

The Scarlet Knights also hired Frank Cignetti as their offensive coordinator and Jeff Hafley. Schiano has not said what Hafley’s role will be.

Angelichio spent five seasons at Pittsburgh, developing Nate Byham (San Francisco 49ers) and Dorin Dickerson (Houston Texans) in recent years. He also served as the Panthers’ offensive coordinator in the BBVA Compass Bowl after Cignetti left before the bowl game to take the Rutgers job.

Angelichio spent 10 years coaching at Ithaca College (1996-2005), being named their offensive coordinator in 2000.
