DALLAS (AP) — Redskins owner Daniel Snyder says he wants a personal apology and a correction from Washington City Paper, which he sued over a column he says defamed him.

Snyder often has come under criticism during his ownership of Washington’s NFL team. In his first public comments about the lawsuit, Snyder said Friday at the Super Bowl that he sued because “enough is enough” and the newspaper “crossed the line.”

“I respect the media. My father was a journalist,” Snyder said. “But don’t call me a criminal. Don’t lie.”

Snyder filed the lawsuit against the weekly paper and its parent company, Atalaya Capital management LP, in New York State Supreme Court on Wednesday. The suit seeks at least $1 million in damages for each of the two causes of action, plus punitive damages.
