TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A recovering heroin addict admits she gave her 12-year-old daughter a fatal dose of methadone in Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports 48-year-old Jane Elizabeth Griffith gave the drug in October to her daughter because she complained of knee pain. The girl, Jessica Griffith, who also went by Jessica Wood, died of a drug overdose.
