South Dakota State tops IUPUI 81-70

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Clint Sargent made 7 of 11 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead South Dakota State to an 81-70 win over IUPUI on Thursday night.

The Jackrabbits (16-9, 8-6 Summit), who rank fourth among Division I teams in 3-point accuracy at 42.2 percent per game, made 9 of 17 3-pointers (52.9).

Nate Wolters had 21 points and 11 assists for the Jackrabbits, who made 30 of 57 shots (52.6 percent).

Leroy Nobles led the Jaguars (15-11, 9-4) with 19 points. Alex Young, the Summit League’s top scorer at 20 points per game, was limited to 14 on 6-of-16 shooting.

South Dakota State built leads of 22 points on several occasions in the second half. They broke open a tight game with a 27-6 run to take a 69-47 lead with 8:26 remaining. The Jaguars whittled it down to the final margin on Nobles’ jumper with 20 seconds left.
