Santa Clara mounts big comeback in 60-56 win

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Kevin Foster scored 21 points and Evan Roquemore added 12 to help Santa Clara overcome a 20-point second-half deficit and defeat San Diego 60-56 on Saturday night.

Troy Payne snagged a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Broncos (16-11, 6-4 West Coast) matched their biggest comeback in school history.

Devin Ginty led the Toreros (5-21, 1-10) with 23 points, tying his career high set last week against Pepperdine. Chris Manresa grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds.

Roquemore gave Santa Clara its first lead, 52-51, with a 3-pointer with 3:52 left.

Ken Rancifer answered with a 3, putting San Diego on top 54-52.

Another 3-pointer by Roquemore gave the Broncos a 58-56 lead with 40.5 seconds left.

After San Diego’s Cameron Miles missed a 3-pointer, Roquemore added two more points from the foul line for the final score.
