SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Oregon lawmakers are considering proposals to create tax credits for companies that create jobs.
The House Transportation and Economic Development Committee held a public hearing on two jobs bills Monday.
One bill would give a tax credit for businesses that build new facilities in Oregon. Another would give a $1,000 tax credit for jobs created to clean up land with environmental contamination.
Paul Grove, a lobbyist for the economic development agency Business Oregon, did not take a position on the measures but says Oregon’s payroll incentives for job creation lag similar states.
Budget analysts say they have not yet calculated the cost of the proposed tax credits.
