ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have hired Hall of Famer Rod Woodson as an assistant to coach the team’s cornerbacks.

The Raiders announced the move Monday to bring back their former star player as a member of Hue Jackson’s coaching staff.

Woodson played this final two of his 17 seasons with the Raiders. He helped the team win the 2002 AFC championship.

Woodson spent the bulk of his playing career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also won a Super Bow title with the Baltimore Ravens.

Woodson was named to 11 Pro Bowls, the 1990s all-decade team and the NFL’s 75th Anniversary Team. He was the defensive player of the year in 1993 and was named a first-team All-Pro six times as either a cornerback, safety or kick returner.
