MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A Medford telecommunications company has donated a faster Internet link to the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force to help police stay ahead of cyber criminals.
The Mail Tribune reports that Hunter Communications will upgrade the Internet connection at no cost this month for the task force, based in Central Point.
The task force investigates computer-based crime and provides digital forensic laboratory services to more than 50 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon.
Officials say the new high-speed fiber optic connection will significantly enhance the capabilities of the task force as it investigates intellectual property crimes, fraudulent websites, scams and child pornography.
