WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida man accused of dousing his son with a chemical has been charged with attempted murder.

West Palm Beach police spokesman Chase Scott says the new charge for 53-year-old Jorge Barahona was added Thursday night.

Earlier, Circuit Judge Ted Booras ordered Barahona held on $1 million bail. The judge said Barahona was a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Also Thursday night, police were planning to serve a search warrant at the Barahona family’s Miami home.

Police say Barahona critically injured his 10-year-old son. The pair was found Monday parked alongside Interstate 95 in West Palm. Authorities later discovered the deteriorated body of the boy’s twin sister in the back of the exterminator’s pickup.

Barahona has not been charged in her death.
